What Are Backlinks ?

Backlinks are the links from an external site coming to your blog/site which tells the search engines that your site is preferred by that site.Which means that more backlinks,better rankings.

Types Of Backlinks:-

Backlinks are of two types:-

• Dofollow backlinks:- The links which are instructed to be indexed by the search engines are known as dofollow backlinks and in simple words these are the useful backlinks as nofollow backlinks are of no use.It's syntax could be like:- <a href='Your-site.com'>Anchor text</a> or <a rel="dofollow" href='your-site.com'>Anchor text</a>

• Nofollow backlinks:- The links which are instructed to not to be indexed by the search engines are known as nofollow backlinks or in other words they are trash links.They are equivalent to a text without link. There syntax are:- <a rel="nofollow" href='Your-site.com'>Anchor text</a>.But we can often use them to increase are SEO by adding them for external links in our website because the moto for Pagerank is that "Less the external links,better the ranking".

• Commenting:- This one's the most insecure but easiest way.it's easiest as making a comment with a link on some good blog is not an hard task but it's insecure as if you will make a comment on a spam website,it would become the reason of a downfall in your rankings.Moreover most of the comment editor's including me remove the links with comments and even block the one's who do them too much.

• Internal Linking:- This one can be done by you even and that too very simply.Just link some other post through your article and the link to your other post through your new post on the same blog will be regarded as a backlinks.But doing this too much can result into your site getting penalized by google.

• Dofollow Social Networking Sites:- I have taken the title as dofollow social networking sites because sites like facebook or google+ are completely nofollow so building links through them is a waste of time but sites like delicious or reddit are dofollow so you can get backlinks or your site and your post through them also.
